David grew up in Orchard Park, NY and is the son of Gordon and Isabel Reh and brother to Verna Jane. His father was a Mechanic in the school bus garage and mother was a Homemaker, except during WWII. At his guidance counselor’s recommendation, David chose to attend Clarkson University with Industrial Distribution as his major. With no financial aid, David and his parents split the cost of his freshman year. With hard work and determination, David received a full tuition scholarship and worked as a Resident Advisor to cover the cost of room and board in subsequent years. Knowing the hardships that students face financially, David has worked hard to provide resources to help today’s students mitigate some of their financial stress.
After graduation from Clarkson, David worked at AT&T Long Lines which was followed by an Army tour in Germany then followed by a sales trainee position at Gleason Works. David then attended the University of Rochester Graduate School of Business, now the Simon School, and after graduation in 1967 joined a small manufacturer's rep firm which he bought in 1971.
David is the Chairman of Gorbel, Inc. and Retrotech, Inc. as well as the Owner of Ravenwood Golf Club and President of The Raytec Group, Inc. David and his wife Sue have been married for 50 years, and have three sons and nine grandchildren.
