Please completely fill out all sections on the paper or online version of the application. If you are filling out the online application please look over the application and make sure to have all the required information available to complete the application before beginning. The online application cannot be saved for submission at a later time, so please make sure you are able to dedicate at least 30 minutes to finish all the sections.
It is important to note: Due to security reasons we do not ask for your social security number on our online application. If you choose to utilize the online application, please call The Clarkson School Office at: 315-268-4425 or 1-800-574-4425 to provide us with your social security number. It is necessary for us to have students' social security numbers on file when preparing accepted students' financial aid packages.
Please submit an essay of 250-300 words, in the form of a personal statement. The personal statement should provide the Admission Committee with a sense of you as an individual so that we may have the opportunity to get to know you better through your writing. You may describe a special interest, experience, or achievement that is important and meaningful to you. We welcome you to submit this via email, as an attached word document, to email@example.com.
The nonrefundable application fee of $50.00 should follow your application. Checks and money orders should be made payable to The Clarkson School. Application fee waivers are accepted; see your high school guidance counselor. Students who take part in an admission interview will have their application fee waived.
All potential Clarkson School students are encouraged to visit the campus for an interview with School personnel. It is strongly recommended that a parent or guardian accompany an applicant for the interview. An interview, tour of campus, and classroom visit may be arranged by calling The Clarkson School Office at 1-800-574-4425.
Secondary School Report Form
As an applicant, you should talk over your interest in The Clarkson School with your guidance or college counselor. Your principal, head of school, or counselor should complete the Secondary School Report and return it with an official transcript of your secondary school coursework to date including PSAT, PLAN, SAT, or ACT scores. These forms may be filled out by your Counselor online, or can be printed and sent to The Clarkson School.
The transcript of your secondary school work should be sent directly from your school's office. Admission to The Clarkson School is always conditional on the outcome of your final grades for the year, so an end-of-year transcript must be provided when available.
If your PSAT, SAT, PLAN or ACT scores are not reflected on your secondary school transcript, you should arrange to have them sent to us. In order to have your test scores submitted directly from College Board for your PSAT and SAT's please use the code: 2084. To have your test scores sent directly to us from ACT/PLAN please enter code: 2698.
In addition to the recommendation on the secondary school report, you should arrange to have at least two (2) other recommendations sent from your teachers, or others who could speak to your academic and personal readiness for a program such as this. These forms may be filled out by your recommender online, or can be printed and sent to The Clarkson School. You should complete the top portion of the two-page form before giving it to the individual. It is often appropriate to provide a stamped envelope as well. Recommendations should be sent directly to the Director of Admission and are considered confidential. Parents and guardians are encouraged to write a letter of support, as well. These letters are optional, but offer a unique, personal perspective of the applicant.
Priority deadline is June 1. Completed applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and normally within 7-10 business days. However, if the application and all required supporting materials are received by January 15, 2016, the applicant will automatically be considered to apply for a spot in Clarkson's Honors Program.
